How to blend NFTs on WAX

Four steps, start to finish. Blending burns NFTs you own and mints you a new one, following a recipe that lives in the blend.nefty contract — so this works the same way no matter which interface you started from. If you want the concepts first, read what NFT blending is before you begin.

  1. 1.Connect a WAX wallet

Connect Anchor, WAX Cloud Wallet, or Wombat. NeftyFusion is non-custodial — connecting only lets it read which NFTs you hold and prepare transactions for you to sign. It never gains the ability to move them.

If you don't have a wallet yet, WAX Cloud Wallet is the lowest-friction option — it's browser-based and doesn't need a download. Anchor is the choice if you'd rather hold your own keys locally.

  2. 2.Find a blend

Open the blend explorer and search by collection. Every blend on the protocol is listed, whichever frontend it was originally published through.

Blends are recipes authored by creators — you can't invent your own combination. If a collection you own has no blend, none has been published for it yet.

  3. 3.Match your ingredients

NeftyFusion scans your wallet and highlights which of your NFTs satisfy the recipe. Ingredients can be a specific template, a whole schema, an attribute value, or an entire collection — so a card you didn't expect to qualify sometimes does.

If nothing matches, the recipe is asking for something you don't hold. Open the blend's requirements and check the ingredient type before buying anything to fill the gap.

  4. 4.Confirm and receive

Approve the transaction in your wallet. The ingredients are burned, the fee is collected, and the result NFT is minted — all atomically, so it either fully succeeds or nothing happens at all.

For randomized blends the result arrives a moment later, once the chain's RNG oracle answers. Watch it under My Claims.

When a blend won't go through

Three things account for nearly every failed blend, and none of them put your NFTs at risk:

  • Wrong ingredientThe recipe wants a specific Template and you're holding a different card from the same collection. Check the ingredient type, not just the artwork.
  • No WAX for RAMThe 2 WAX RAM fee has to come from somewhere. An empty wallet can't complete a blend.
  • Site won't loadThat's a frontend problem, not a blend problem — the contract is still running. Here's why your blends are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a blend take?+

A fixed-result blend completes in the same transaction — a couple of seconds on WAX. A randomized blend has to wait for the RNG oracle to answer, so the result usually lands within a minute and appears under My Claims until it does.

I own the right NFTs but the blend won't let me select them. Why?+

Almost always an ingredient-type mismatch. A recipe asking for a specific Template will reject a different card from the same collection, even if it looks identical. Open the blend's requirements and check whether it wants a Template, Schema, Attribute, or Collection.

My blend transaction failed. Did I lose my NFTs?+

No. Blends execute atomically: if the transaction fails, the burn is rolled back with it, so your ingredients stay in your wallet. Failures are usually insufficient WAX for the RAM fee, or an ingredient that got moved or sold mid-blend.

My randomized claim is stuck as pending. What now?+

The RNG oracle occasionally takes longer or a job doesn't get picked up. Open My Claims and use retry — it re-submits against the same on-chain job, so you aren't charged twice and can't lose the result.

Do I need WAX in my wallet to blend?+

Yes — a small amount. NFT blends pay a 2 WAX RAM fee for on-chain storage, so a wallet with zero WAX can't complete one. Stake 5,000+ MINTY and platform fees are waived, though you still need WAX for the network itself.

Can I blend NFTs that are listed for sale?+

No. An NFT that's listed on a marketplace is escrowed by that marketplace's contract, so it isn't in your wallet to burn. Cancel the listing first, then the blend will see it.
